September 24 - 25, 2005 for next event
Pass Christian has had many distinguished artist personalities to stay in residence for extended periods of time throughout its history. Because of the superb climate and healthful conditions, some come to stay in resort-style living for short visits, while others come here to retire.
In these pages, an attempt will be made to gather as many of the significant artful persons as information is made available. A name without a story will not be included.
The Pass Christian Art Association has been an ongoing eventful organization for nearly a half century. On July 28, 1962, the Pass Christian Art Association sponsored its first annual Festival of Arts when Mrs. S.P. Borden was president. To stimulate coastwide interest, it was co-sponsored with the Gulf Coast Art Association which had been in existence since 1926.
As an outgrowth from passionate artists, in 1995, an annual event had its beginnings as "Collage" or Collage Festival of Arts, and more currently known as Art in the Pass.
